Fairfield Arts Commission: Spotlight Series - Stephen Goldstein

Meet Stephen Goldstein, a mixed media street artist, who upcycles old license plates to create art.

Stephen has always been creative. He loved to make "things" with found objects (garbage) as a kid. His main media source is old, recycled license plates, but he also uses objects such as guitar picks, tin roofing, old car parts, bottle caps, and beer cans. With these found objects, Stephen creates portraits of people within pop culture, music, and feminism. He also incorporates bright, bold pops of color that bring these portraits to life.

Stephen shared, “I enjoy being around local, creative people.” With regards to the Fairfield community, he added “my neighbors and friends have collected used license plates for my art. In turn, I have donated several pieces to various local charities and groups.”
