FAIRFIELD RETAILERS LOOK FORWARD TO CT TAX FREE WEEK
Back to School means tax free savings with Connecticut’s Tax Free Week beginning Sunday, August 21, through Saturday, August 27, 2022.
During this one-week sales tax holiday, retail purchases of most clothing and footwear items priced under $100 are exempt from the sales and use tax. According to the CT Department of Revenue Services, the exemption applies to each eligible item under $100, regardless of how many of those items are sold to a customer on the same invoice. First Selectwoman Brenda L. Kupchick stated, “I hope residents will take the opportunity to shop local during tax free week.”
The Town of Fairfield Director of Economic Development Mark Barnhart remarked, “For those looking to do some back to school shopping and take advantage of tax free savings, it’s important to buy local wherever possible and support our small business community.”
“Whether you are interested in back-to-school items, sports clothing, end-of summer apparel, or ‘something you always wanted’, Tax Free Week is the time to buy … and Shop Local! It has been a long and difficult time for our local merchants, so when thinking about your upcoming purchases, please remember to support our local businesses first,” commented Beverly Balaz, President of the Fairfield Chamber of Commerce.
