THE BIRDS AWAIT YOUR VISIT
National Bird Day was celebrated on Wednesday – but every day Connecticut’s amazing birds are celebrated at Fairfield’s Audubon Centers. In case you missed it, make time to visit one of the two Fairfield Audubon Centers this month. Whether you choose The Connecticut Audubon Society on 2325 Burr Street in Greenfield Hill, or the tucked away, just off of I-95, Birdcraft Museum & Sanctuary at 314 Unquowa Road, you will be amazed with the peaceful and unique learning experience that the staff at The Audubon have curated.
Did you know that the CT State Bird is the American Robin? Talk about Love Local – there is so much to learn about the numerous birds that call Fairfield home. The continually updated exhibits include so many facts and figures about each of the many bird species in our state. Be sure to pair your visit with a walk along the many Audubon trails to enjoy the birds and other wildlife in their natural habitat. For many, this is a must do staycation.
When planning your visit, be sure to include a stop at The Birds of Prey Compound at 2325 Burr Street. The compound is a permanent home for a number of non-releasable native birds. These amazing creatures live at the Center because they were either imprinted on or suffered a permanent injury that makes them unable to survive in the wild. The Birds of Prey Compound, is open to visitors, Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Please also consider the sponsorship program to support the care of Ambassador Birds here!
